According to our information, soon will be finished production cycle of second generation of Audi’s first SUV. This is the first Audi with controversial Q label, for which it was sued by Nissan 2005th year. A year later it was agreed that they would be used only in two Audi models, the Q5 and Q7. But we know that soon will be the whole range of numbers which take the prefix Q in the Audi range. Though Nissan uses the Q mark for its sedans since 1989. year. The 2015 Audi Q7 prototypes were recorded on the streets of Spain and make something really interesting.
As we have said since Q7 was hit the market, did not receive significant change so far. The second generation of this model brings some changes, but not all that we have expected. The biggest change is the reduction of the weight of the new 2015 Audi Q7. It will lose up to 700 pounds. It will be built on the most recent MLB modular longitudinal platform arcitecture.
2015 Audi Q7 Redesign
The prototype, which has been observed in Spain carries the final form of the body. The masking film has already begun the process of “discovery” of what lies beneath. Already looms prominent trapezoidal grill and light clusters in its sequel, details of which was announced earlier concepts and sketches of small models from the Q line. But the most spectacular changes will happen under the body, and it is a completely aluminum chassis. It appears that the vehicle in the pictures has less ground clearance, which means that Audi is still working on air suspensions. There is also a short front end, as well as the more prominent bumpers. How in those photos can be observed, it appears that the new 2015 Audi Q7 will now have somewhat steeper roofline.
2015 Audi Q7 Specs
Credit for reducing the weight of the new SUV will mainly be attributable to the use of MLB platform. This platform which although is made mostly of steel is lighter than the present, and the increased use of aluminum parts. The same platform will be used for the next generation of the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne. The all models will be manufactured at Volkswagen plant in Slovakia. The new Bentley SUV will use a similar platform, but this model will be built in Crewe, UK.
The new 2015 Audi Q7 will have a Quattro all-wheel drive system. All powertrains will come mated to a standard eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The engine options has not been finalized yet. We assume that the 2015 Q7 be powered with 3.0-liter V6 TFSI with 310 hp and 4.2-liter V8 TDI with 385 horses. The input model will have a small four-cylinder 2.0-liter TDI engine, while SQ7 Diesel at the top rank will be powered with V8 TDI engine. The powertrain offer will also feature with a plug-in hybrid e-tron version and economical four-cylinder diesel version. We assume that U.S. market will only receive the gasoline-drinking e-tron version.
2015 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price
Audi plans to present the new 2015 Q7 in March at the Geneva Auto Show, but it is possible to still opt for the September Auto Show in Paris. Regardless of the release date, a new generation will enter into sales at the end of this year as a model for the 2015. model year. As before, this model will have a large price range. We assume that the MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of the basic model will be around $ 50,000 while the best-equipped version will cost more than $ 80,000.
